Larry and Sergey Explain What's Best for Us

"The idea that everyone needs to work frantically to meet people's needs is just not true," says Larry Page. ... "You just reduce work time."

No discussion of the meaning of work, the idea of work as a contribution to society, as enhancing the store of human knowledge, as ennobling mankind.  Are we all supposed to be happy part-time worker bees serving their machines while Larry and Sergey make the big decisions about resource allocation as they jet around the world in their 767?

"Governments are  pretty illogical," he says later.  True enough, but is Google wisdom the answer?  Can it not participate in a broader public discussion?  Are we too stupid to be included?

Creepy, if you think about it.  And Larry is the more thoughtful one.

Worth a look if you have the time.
